Also known as crowd financing, equity crowdfunding, social funding or hyper funding, these terms describe the collective effort of individuals who network and pool their resources, usually via the Internet, to support an individual or organization. Crowdfunding has been used to support everything from disaster relief, citizen journalism, artists, political campaigns, free software development and scientific research.
Because of new policy changes, startups will soon be able to raise money by crowdfunding in exchange for small amounts of equity. This session will look more in depth at how crowdfunding might affect entrepreneurs, investors and the entire startup ecosystem from multiple viewpoints.
